About
Who are we?
ProtectionLine is an initiative of Protection International, formerly known as European Office of Peace Brigades International (PBI) , within its Mainstreaming Protection of Human Rights Defenders Program. The website ProtectionLine was developed through the cooperation with Asian, American and African human rights defenders, while drawing on the PBI field experience of the last 25 years and the effort of hundreds of volunteers who are working in the field and in the PBI offices all over the world.
This site will try to ensure the exchange of experiences and information between human rights defenders, and will, above all mainly attempt to foster effort among and induce solidarity action of as many social actors as possible, in favour of those defenders who protect against the abuses of power.
The following, furthermore, are principles born on our convictions :
- The inalienable right of the victims of human rights violations to obtain justice and reparation
- the necessity of preserving the principles and objectives of the charter of the United Nations towards the multiplication of laws that limit the fundamental rights and that criminalize the social respond-actions
- the importance of non-violent-actions
