Interview with Arnold Tsunga, Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe

Tuesday 28 March 2006 by Protection International

Arnold Tsunga, Zimbabwe IMG/flv/arnold.Tsunga.flv

Arnold Tsunga is a leading defender in Zimbabwe. He has been representing victims of human rights abuses and campaigning for greater respect for human rights; he has repeatedly denounced the undemocratic system of justice. He has been threatened, detained, and is constantly harassed.

Human rights defenders like Mr. Tsunga have become lonely voices of dissent in Zimbabwe as independent media outlets have been closed down and opposition political parties are being stifled. The government of Zimbabwe restricts operations of human rights organisations through legislation such as the Public Order and Security Act and Private Voluntary Organisations Act.
