Our Research and Training Unit has been running training activities in security and protection for defenders since 2001. Our trainers have delivered workshops (either through our own program or in collaboration with other institutions) in México, Guatemala, Colombia, Brazil, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Ingushetia (North Caucasus), Serbia, Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka, as well as in several locations in Europe.

We have shared, compiled and exchanged defenders´ security strategies in all these places. This has contributed towards a consistent program for our training workshops,. Moreover, most of the lessons learnt are included in the Protection Manual for Human Rights Defenders.
