Out of the belief of the Arab Program for Human Rights Activists in the importance of the role of human rights activists and associations in the phase of the struggle to establish a State based upon the rule of law and equality as well as the fight against corruption and discrimination, and out of the belief in the importance of his role in the process of transition, democratization and the dissemination of the values of citizenship and tolerance as well as the reform of public institutions and the consolidation of the principles of the rule of law, the Arab Program resumes and continues its activities in supporting human rights activists and associations to open an ongoing dialogue among them on one hand and between them and citizens on the other so as to reach more effective and influential role in the national momentum that followed the revolution of the 25th of January .
The Arab Program for Human Rights Activists organizes a Seminar under the title:
"Towards More Effective Role of Human Rights Activists in Stages of Democratic Transition - Egypt as a Model"
The Seminar will take place on:
Monday, May 23, 2011 at 4:30 pm till 10:00 pm
at Upper Egypt Association for Development in 65 Qubaisi Street, Ghamra - Behind Coptic Hospital.
The Seminar will highlight the above mentioned debate and issues on two axes:
First: The movement of human rights during the revolution of 25th of January (The existence absence). Throughout this axis, the performance of the movement with its institutions and activists in the era of pre and post the revolution will be assessed to emphasize the Movement’s role in the fight against corruption and the disclosure of forms of injustice and discrimination that was practiced by the previous regime.
Second: The future of the 25th of January Revolution in judging of the human rights movement. This axis deals with the analysis of the future of the Revolution in light of the recent changes that were undergone by the Egyptian community within the absence of security and the existence of counter-revolution and the role of activists and human rights associations in establishing the Egyptian state and to overcome the obstacles facing the revolution.
At the Seminar, a number of experts in the field of civil work and human rights activists will speak, among them: Mohammed Fayek, Nihad Abu Komsan, Iman Hassan, Ayman Abdel-Wahab, Alaa Shoker Allah, Abdul Ghaffar Shoker, Youssry Mostafa, Medhat Al Zahed and Haggag Nayel.
