The World has forgotten Somalia

Ahmed Taajir was the Programme director of Somali Shabelle radio and TV.
On June 7th 2009, he had been seriously injured in an attack of “Al-Shaabab” group in Mogadishu while his colleague Moqtar Mohamed Hirabe died, shot several times in the chest and head. Following IFJ, Six journalists have been killed in Somalia in 2009.
In November, the IFJ had condemned the “upsurge of attacks against journalists and news media organisations in Somalia [and] the grave press freedom violations that have been committed by Al-Shabaab extremist group in Kismayo, Baidoa, Bardhere and Mogadishu”.
Ahmed Taajir is currently living on exile.
